Assistant Principal

An assistant principal is one of the more common careers in education administration. Assistant principals usually have at least a few years of classroom teaching experience. They work with the school administration team to oversee school operations and the delivery of the instructional programs. Assistant principals assist with the administration staff with student enrollments, professional development, staffing management and office administration. They may be expected to support fundraising strategies, ensure compliance with applicable laws and assist with parent and community outreach activities, according to the Department of Education. Assistant principals are expected to have education or business administration experience. They must also maintain state required licensure and certification.

Test Development Administrator

There are many private and non-profit organizations that offer different kinds of standardized test. This may be for internal use in a health care organization, or for state-wide use in a private higher educational institution. Test development administrators are responsible for providing project support, coordination and management. They assist in the development and maintenance of test content and guidelines. Thus, they act as the main point person for vendors and clients. They monitor and coordinate multiple test development schedules and projects with educational experts. This involves providing regular updates to clients, which may include reports that highlight the test development action and decision logs. During the early stages of test development, they may personally visit their clients in order to best understand their needs and preferences.

Director for Curricular Programs

A director for curricular programs works in colleges as a main point of contact for students, faculty and the community. They actively support student development through service and leadership programs designed to help students foster the values and competencies needed to become effective leaders and proactive citizens. They work with faculty and other administrators to incorporate service-learning and leadership education in available programs. A director for curricular programs often serves as a primary liaison between their campus and community-based organizations. They are also tasked with maintaining collaborative campus-community partnerships that benefit both students and local citizens. Administrative Director

Administrative directors work in colleges as executives in charge of various programs or departments. Some oversee compliance with state and federal educational regulations while others focus on establishing cooperative relationships and exchange programs with local, national and foreign colleges. Some administrative directors focus on curriculum development and student engagement. These educational professionals concentrate on creating integrative learning experiences through the efficient planning, implementation and assessment of programs that encourage academic excellence and community participation. Administrative directors typically oversee multiple departments and are responsible for budgets, contract negotiations and academic risk management. Many administrative directors go on to higher positions, such as working on the board of directors.
